Can I install it right now?
Not from the Chrome Web Store yet — the listing is still on the way. The dashboard on this site is live and fully usable in the meantime, so you can browse every companion and try the controls before installing anything.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up and no login. Your companion, favorites, and settings are saved in your own browser, not on a server.
Does it work on every website?
No. It works on normal supported websites, but Chrome blocks extensions on chrome:// pages, Chrome Web Store pages, internal pages, and some restricted sites.
Is audio enabled by default?
No. Audio stays off until you turn it on, and playback stays scoped to active-tab behavior.
Is DeskBuddy free?
The free library is genuinely free — every companion in it, every effect, and every control, with no card and no trial. Pro is a one-time purchase that adds premium character packs on top. The free companions never get locked behind it.
Is Pro a subscription?
No. Pro is a single one-time payment that unlocks every premium pack for good, including packs added later. There is no renewal and nothing to cancel.
What data does the extension need?
Only minimal settings and allowed analytics events for the companion experience. It does not collect page text, passwords, form input, sensitive content, keystrokes, or unnecessary browsing history.
